DISTANT, Pa. (EYT) – Armstrong County Coroner Brian K. Myers has ruled the February 21 deaths of a Distant couple as accidental.

According to the Tribune Review, “Kenneth Steffey likely had a heart attack while helping his longtime partner, Linda Darlene Cook, who had fallen in the hours before both were found lying dead and covered in snow at the bottom of steps outside their home in Distant last month.”

Myers told the Tribune-Review that there was evidence that Steffey attempted to help Cook get up after she had fallen.

“My guess is he helped her and had a heart attack,” said Myers.

According to Myers, Steffey had major heart problems.

Myers said the deaths of both victims were a result of hypothermia.
