Georgia “Peg” (Lowry) Idzi

Member_144669Georgia “Peg” (Lowry) Idzi, 85, of Oil City, died Wednesday night, March 18, 2015 at her home with her daughter, Diana and family at her side.

She was born in Franklin on February 14, 1930 to the late Samuel H. Lowry, Sr. and Grace Sheats Lowry.

She and her family lived in Van while she was growing up.

She married Stanley Idzi on March 19, 1949; he preceded her in death in 1995.

They lived in Grove City for a short time, but she spent most of her life in Oil City.

Mrs. Idzi was of the catholic faith.

Peg was a life member of the P.N.A. and the Pulaski Club and a former life member of the ladies auxiliary to the VFW Post 464, and transferred to the ladies auxiliary to the Jesse Greer Post 1835 in Franklin.

She enjoyed, even recently, doing yard work and gardening.

She loved taking on DIY projects and painting around her home.

She also enjoyed taking trips to the Las Vegas and going to the casinos.

Peg’s greatest joy was her family.

She loved being a homemaker, wife, and mother; and enjoyed visiting with her family and her sisters.

Mrs. Idzi worked at the A&P Super Market in Oil City for 25 years; and was also employed at Hileman-Daffins Hallmark Store in Oil City for eight years.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Idzi of Oil City; six sisters, Judy Newell and husband Ron of Greencastle, Linda Stevens of Gainesville, Virginia, Virginia “Ginger” Renninger and husband Richard of Smyrna, N. Carolina, Ruth Ann Curran and husband Tom of Oil City, Barbara Perry and husband Fred of Oil City, and Sue Webster Lang and husband Bob of Springboro, Ohio.

Peg enjoyed the company of her many surviving nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; including her special niece, Pam (Wagner) Tompsett, whom helped her family for many years.

In addition to her husband, she was precede in death by her son, David Idzi in 2011; four sisters, Jane Wenner, Mary Wagner, Janet Haba, and Rachel Davenport; three brothers, Samuel H. Lowry, Jr., William Lowry, and Peter Lowry; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Saturday (March 21) from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township, where the funeral service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Sonya Shirley, Peg’s niece, officiating.

Private interment for the immediate family will follow in the Georgeville Cemetery near Van.

The family of Georgia “Peg” Idzi would like to thank all of the doctors and staff at the UPMC Cancer Center, and the Venango V.N.A. hospice nurses, for all of their care and compassion.
