Margaret L. “Marg” Griffin

Margaret L. “Marg” Griffin, 77, of St. Petersburg, passed away late Wednesday evening, March 18, 2015 at UPMC in Seneca.

Marg was born on April 5, 1937 in Chicora.

She was the daughter of the late Frank and Ora Hunsberger McKaern.

Mrs. Griffin enjoyed volunteering and helping the St. Petersburg Fire Department and the St. Petersburg United Methodist Church.

She belonged to the Monroe Community Center, the St. Petersburg Senior Center and the Richland Grange.

She enjoyed crafts, the company of her schnauzer, Digger, gambling, and most especially the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marg was employed by the A-C Valley School District within the custodial department and retired after 17 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O. Wayne Griffin, whom she married on March 1, 1955. Mr. Griffin died on July 4, 2002.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah L. Lemmon and her husband, Randy, of Emlenton and Roxanne Milks and her companion, Todd Switzer, of Strattanville; a son, O. Wayne Griffin Jr. of St. Petersburg; nine grandchildren, Spencer Lemmon and his wife, Becky, of Pittsburgh, Aaron Lemmon and his wife, Jess, of Emlenton, Ashley Milks of St. Petersburg, Heather Griffin of Pennsylvania, Emily Milks of Titusville, Cody Griffin of Emlenton, Keisha Griffin of Parker, Tyler Griffin of Kennerdell, Dylan Griffin of Sligo; two great grandchildren, Abiageal M. Lemmon of Pittsburgh and Adler K. Lemmon of Emlenton; a sister, Helen Lobaugh of Sligo, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Eloise McKaern, Mary Whitling, Laura Whitling, Vada Dittman, and Martha Wingard.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 802 Grove St., St. Petersburg, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dan Myers, pastor of St. Petersburg United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Petersburg Cemetery.
