UPDATE: Building that Houses Blue Canoe Brewery May Be a Total Loss After Massive Fire

TITUSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Multiple firefighters were dispatched to a fire Wednesday afternoon in the Towne Square Complex in Titusville.

According to officials, at 1:45 p.m. firefighters were called to a blaze at The Towne Square Building, located at 110 West Spring Street, Titusville.

The Towne Square Building houses office and retail space, including the Blue Canoe Brewery and the Titusville Redevelopment Authority. The building also was used for the city’s council meetings.

Officials say the fire started in the fourth floor of the complex. Sources say the upper floors of the structure were completely destroyed.

Crawford County 911 says Titusville Fire Department and at least twenty-three neighboring fire companies responded to the scene. The Salvation Army was on the scene to assist firefighters and other first-responders.

The fire was deemed under control around 10 p.m.

Titusville Fire Department remained on the scene through the night to monitor the situation.

The City of Titusville is asking residents to conserve water until further notice.

“The Water Works pumps are at capacity and firefighting efforts are putting a strain on the system,” said a spokesperson with Titusville Police Department. “A tanker station has been set up and departments from across Crawford and Venango Counties are shuttling water to the scene.”

Officials believe the blaze started after a Tuesday night fire rekindled at a neighboring building, located at 112 West Spring Street.

Sources close to the situation believe the building may be a total loss.

It’s unclear how much fire damage was sustained on the first floor; however, exploreVenango.com has confirmed that water damage on the lower level is significant.

“The sight of water pouring out of the doors doesn’t look good,” said a spokesperson of the Blue Canoe Brewery. “We have no idea what is next, but for now we are closed until further notice.”

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

No injuries have been reported as of Thursday morning.
