Two Women Jailed on $75k Each for Allegedly Attempting to Smuggle Drugs into SCI-Forest

MARIENVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Two women are in jail after allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into SCI-Forest.

Court documents indicate that 27-year-old Azizah Nur Abdulmartin, of Philadelphia, Pa., faces two felony drug charges for an incident that occurred on March 16 at SCI-Forest.

K-9 Alerts on Abdulmartin

According to a criminal complaint, on Monday, March 16, 2015, at 12:27 p.m., PSP Marienville responded to SCI-Forest for the report of a female allegedly concealing contraband inside the facility.

Upon arrival of the scene, Trooper Hunsberger spoke with K-9 Correctional Officer Sgt. Wilson, who related that his K9 had allegedly alerted on Abdulmartin, the complaint states.

Abdulmartin Allegedly Admits to Concealing Contraband

Trooper Hunsberger spoke with Abdulmartin, who allegedly indicated that she was concealing contraband on her person. She allegedly signed a voluntary waiver of rights and consent to search form, the complaint continues.

Officer Discovers 35 Bags of Suspected Marijuana on Abdulmartin

Female DOC Officer Mattocks performed a search of Abdulmartin, which allegedly yielded 35 bags of suspected marijuana individually wrapped in balloon type material. The items were packaged inside a condom. DOC Officer Mattocks related Abdulmartin retrieved the previously described contraband from the right front of her groin area, according to the complaint.

Two samples from inside the balloon type packaging were opened and suspected marijuana inside was NIK tested. The NIK tests allegedly confirmed the substance was marijuana, the complaint states.

Abdulmartin Arrested, Jailed; Awaits Preliminary Hearing

Abdulmartin was arrested and arraigned on the following charges:

  • Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
  • Contraband/Controlled Substance, Felony 2
  • Marijuana-Small Amt Personal Use, Misdemeanor
  • Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor
  • Unable to post $75,000.00 Monetary bail, Abdulmartin was placed in the Warren County Jail.

    A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on March 24 in Courtroom MDJ-37-4-93, in front of The Honorable Daniel L. Miller.

    Second Drug Arrest on March 16

    In another contraband incident on March 16, another 27-year-old woman is in jail after allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into SCI-Forest.

    Court documents indicate that 27-year-old Devinearth Shynetta Freeman, of Philadelphia, Pa., faces two felony drug charges for an incident that occurred on March 16 at SCI-Forest.

    Freeman Attempts to Smuggle Two Balloons of Marijuana into Facility

    According to a criminal complaint, on March 16, 2015, Freeman arrived at SCI Forest with the alleged intent to deliver two balloons containing 6.2 grams of marijuana.

    The complaint states that upon arrival, Freeman allegedly used the name and identification of Taharra McQueen.

    K-9 Alerts on Freeman’s Handbag

    A department of Corrections K-9 alerted on Freeman’s handbag. As the handler was returning the dog to its kennel, Freeman allegedly exited the building and deposited the balloons in a garbage can, the complaint continues.

    Freeman Allegedly Admits to Transporting and Attempting to Discard Contraband

    Upon interviewing Freeman, she allegedly admitted to transporting and attempting to discard the contraband after her interaction with the K-9 unit. The contraband was allegedly recovered by the corrections staff, and the incident was covered on video, according to the complaint.

    Freeman Arrested, Jailed; Awaits Preliminary Hearing

    Freeman was arrested and arraigned on the following charges:

    • Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
    • Contraband/Controlled Substance, Felony 2
    • Marijuana-Small Amt Personal Use, Misdemeanor
    • Carry False Identification Card (Minor), Summary

    Unable to post $75,000.00 monetary bail, Freeman was lodged in the Warren County Jail.

    A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on March 24 in Courtroom MDJ-37-4-03, in front of The Honorable Daniel L. Miller.
