Clarion U.’s Track & Field Qualifies Six for PSAC’s at Cal Early Bird

CALIFORNIA, Pa. — The Clarion University outdoor track and field team had six PSAC qualifiers at the season-opening California (Pa.) Early Bird meet Saturday.

Kristen Belko qualified twice, while Danielle Vensel, Katie Chambers, Tatiana Cloud and Kari Steuer each had one qualifying mark.

Belko qualified in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.37, which was good for third place, and she added a third-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.60 meters/5-feet, 3-inches.

Vensel was second in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 39.16.29, while Chambers was fifth in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:55.78. Cloud also had a second-place ending in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:05.99, and Steuer was third in the shot put with a toss of 11.42 meters/37-feet, 5 -inches.

Chambers also had a strong showing in the 800 finishing third in a time of 2:29.63, while Summer Murray was fourth in the discus (34.30 meters/112-06 feet). Jessica Hamrick tied for third in the pole vault going 3.05 meters/10-0, and Maria Taylor finished seventh in the javelin (34.07 meters/111-09 feet).
