Helen PerrettHelen Caroline Perrett of Oil City passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 in Naperville, Illinois after a short illness.

Previously, she resided with her daughter in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

Born January 11, 1916 in Fryburg, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Pauline Groner Karg.

Helen attended Fryburg grade school and Oil City High School, graduating in 1934. For many years, she managed the Hillcrest General Store at Coal Hill.

On October 14, 1948, she was married to Homer Leroy Perrett at St. Michael’s Church in Fryburg. He preceded her in death on September 10, 1987.

Helen was a faithful member of St. Stephen Church.

She enjoyed sewing and quilting and was a masterful baker and gardener. She was instrumental in the revival of the Christopher Karg (of Fryburg) family reunions held annually for more than 30 years.

Helen is survived by two children, Rita and her husband Thomas Scottino of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and Michael and his wife Kathy of Rouseville; four grandchildren, Lucia Scottino Pikus, Ashley Perrett Mercado, David Perrett, and Maria Perrett; and two great grandchildren, Isaiah Mercado and Micah Mercado.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents as well as five sisters, Julia Karg Gorsuch, Grace Karg, Agnes Karg, Ruth Karg Weaver, and Germaine Karg Banner. Her only brother, George Karg, passed away as a teenager.

Friends and family will be received from on Friday from 2 to 8 pm at the Morrison Funeral Home in Oil City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday in St. Stephen Church with the Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, presiding.

Interment will follow at the St. Michael Cemetery in Fryburg.
