Clarion Netters Drop PSAC-West Opener to IUP 9-0

CLARION, Pa. — The Clarion women’s tennis team opened PSAC-West play yesterday at the Campbell Courts and lost to visiting IUP 9-0.

Clarion drops to 8-4 on the season and 0-1 in the PSAC-West, while IUP raised its record to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC-West.

In singles action Lauren Zezenski lost 6-0, 6-0 to Tanya Timko at #1; Megan Bettwy lost 6-2, 6-0 to Jarka Petercakova at #2; Madeline Robinson played a very strong match and took her first set to a tie breaker losing 7-3 to Raquel Gonzales, then dropped the second set 6-1 at #3; Maria Snyder lost 6-1, 6-0 to Sophie butland at #4, Jessica Kennelly lost 6-0, 6-1 to Abby McCormick at #5 and Jessica Dgien lost 6-0, 6-1 to Katrine Gransoe at #6.

In doubles action Zezenski and Robinson lost 8-1 to Timko and Petercakova at #1; Bettwy and Snyder lost 8-2 to Von Agris and Wood at #2 and Kennelly and Kaitlyn Mulligan lost 8-1 to Butland and McFail at #3.

Clarion returns to action on Friday at 2pm hosting California.
