Esther J. “Sis” Witherell, age 73, of Tionesta, PA, died on Monday, March 23, 2015 at UPMC-Northwest, Seneca, PA. She was born April 24, 1941 in Kellettville, PA, daughter of the late Archie C. and Ruth J. (Nelson) Silvis.

On September 20, 1957 she married James J. Witherell who died March 29, 1990.

She attended the Tionesta United Methodist Church. She had previously worked for Blair Corp. in Warren, PA and retired from Farm Fresh Food where she worked in the Deli. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and spending time with her friends and neighbors.

Surviving are two sons, Charles O. “Chuck” Witherell and his wife Terri L. of Pinegrove Twp., Venango County; Scott A. Witherell and his fiancé Susan A. Motzer of Tionesta.

Eight grandchildren: Amanda L. Witherell of Cranberry Twp., Venango Co. John A. Knapp of Austin, TX; Sara Knapp of Zelienople, PA; Megan Witherell of Clarion, PA; Caleb Knapp of Pinegrove Twp; Zachary Witherell of Youngsville, PA; Charlie Witherell of Tionesta; Ashley Witherell, also of Youngsville. A great-granddaughter Nevaeh Marcotte.

Two brothers, Howard Silvis and his wife Selma of Springfield, MA; Edward Silvis of Central, PA. A sister-in-law, Maxine Hahn of Oil City, PA. Several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, William E. Witherell. A brother, Sonny Silvis.

Friends will be received at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 1 PM at the Tionesta United Methodist Church with Pastor Andy Blystone officiating. Burial at Mt. Collins Cemetery, Tionesta.
