834c79c5c1be72ddHelen M. Amsler, 82, of Knox, passed away peacefully early Wednesday, March 25 at Clarion Hospital, following a courageous 27 ­year battle with multiple sclerosis.

Through the years, many caring people assisted her on her journey and she treasured every one of those relationships. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Born Helen Marie Weaver on November 22, 1932, in Lamartine, PA, she was the daughter of the late M. Wayne and Ruth Weeter Weaver.

She was a 1950 graduate of White Memorial High School in Knox and a member of the Knox Glass Band. On May 17, 1952, she married Thomas W. Amsler, who survives.

She was employed as a secretary at Clarion State College (now Clarion University), and later at Keystone School District, where she retired in 1990.

She was a life­long member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Lamartine, PA.

She enjoyed playing cards and scrabble, visiting with her numerous grandchildren and great­grandchildren, and spending time at the Amsler family farm on Huckleberry Ridge.

In addition to her husband Thomas, she is survived by three children: Stephen Amsler and his wife Patricia of Mercer, PA; Deborah Talarico and her husband Joseph of Zelienople, PA; and Shawn Amsler of New
York City.

Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 16 great­grandchildren; two brothers: Robert Weaver and his wife Mabel of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Daryl Weaver and his wife Carol of Knox; and numerous nieces
and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Marie, age 10, in 1968, and a sister, Rhea Jean. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 pm and from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the
McEntire­-Weaver Funeral Home, at 504 East Penn Avenue in Knox, and from 10 to 11 am on Saturday at the Salem United Church of Christ, at 2055 Turkey City Road, Lamartine, PA. Funeral services will be held
at 11 am on Saturday at the Salem United Church of Christ, with Pastors Chris Lewis and Justin Amsler officiating.

Interment will follow at the Salem UCC Cemtery. Memorials may be made to the Clarion Forest Visiting Nurses Association P.O. 271, Perkins Road, Clarion, PA 16214 or to the Salem United Church of
Christ, P.O. Box 238, Lamartine, PA 16375.
