Say What?!: Moth Lays Eggs in Reporter’s Ear During Live Broadcast

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A Washington, D.C., TV news reporter who drew the attention of an African moon moth while delivering a report at the Smithsonian said the insect laid eggs in his ear.

Bob Barnard was delivering a report for WTTG-TV Monday on Museum Week at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History when the moon moth landed on his ear and stayed for most of the interview.

Barnard posted pictures to his Twitter account after the incident showing the moth had laid two eggs in his ear during the live broadcast.
