barrJanis Ann Barr, 59, of Oil City, passed away unexpectedly at 6:40 p.m., Wednesday, March 25th, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born July 12, 1955 in Franklin, Janis was the daughter of the late Charles Stanley and Alma Ann Williams Coulter. She married Larry Eugene Barr on December 3, 1994 and he survives.

Janis worked at Venango Manor as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

She was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Oil City. She also was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Franklin, where she served as a Deacon.

She was a loving, caring person and a wonderful caregiver.

Janis was a supporter of her sons, Larry Jr. and Andy in Special Olympics and was a very active member. She was also a supporter of the “Super Kids” Soap Box Derby.

She enjoyed drawing and painting and was an avid sports fan — she loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates, and attending her son, Kevin, rugby matches at Grove City College.

Janis enjoyed wrapping gifts and decorating for Christmas — it was her favorite holiday.

In addition to her husband, Larry, Janis is survived by her three sons, Kevin R. Coulter and his fiancee’, Terry Jolo, of Washington, PA, Larry Barr, Jr. of Titusville, and Andy Barr of New Bethlehem.

She is also survived by her brother, Stanley Coulter and his wife, Kathy, of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Saturday, March 28th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (noon). Funeral services will be held at the Funeral Home following visitation at 12 p.m. (noon), with Majors Ron and Margaret Starnes, from the Oil City Salvation Army, officiating.

Interment will follow in Mt. Irwin Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Oil City Salvation Army, 217 Sycamore Street, Oil City, PA 16301.
