Reash PhotoBetty Lou Reash, formerly of Marienville, passed away at Jefferson Manor on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the age of 91.

Born on March 19, 1924 in Fredonia, PA, she was the daughter of the late A.L “Ted” and Bertha (Foy) Bright. She graduated from Fredonia High School and Sharon Business School. On November 27, 1944, she was married to Earl Reash. He preceded her in death on October 31, 1995.

Betty Lou was the earned income tax collector for the Forest Area School District for over 30 years. She was very active in and devoted to the First Presbyterian Church in Marienville, serving as treasurer for 30 years, an Elder, and member of the Presbyterian Women, Bible study group and annual mission trips.

Betty Lou was also active with the Forest Cooperative Extension Service, MACA, the Republican Committee of Forest County (as Chairperson), Bridge Club, Marienville Womens’ Club, Order of the Eastern Star (as a Life Member, Mercer PA) and the Red Hats.

Betty Lou and Earl passed on their good work ethic, taking care of their family, their kindness to others and always giving back to the community. She loved traveling and her cat. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and the special bond she had with them.

Betty Lou is survived by her three daughters; Anne Gregory and husband George of Pittsburgh and Marienville, Elaine Mensch and husband Scott of Pittsburgh, and Kim MacBeth and husband Todd of Clarion. Betty Lou’s grandchildren are Ted Gregory and wife Suzanne of Pittsburgh, Michael Gregory of Pittsburgh, Melissa Gregory and fiancé James Tipney of Sydney Australia, Ryan Mensch and wife Laura of Pittsburgh, Keaton MacBeth of Clarion, and Andrew MacBeth of Clarion. Betty Lou also has three great-grandsons; Logan, Angelo, and Kenny.

In addition, she is survived by her sister, Margaret Ellis of Mercer, her brother-in-law, Dick McChesney of Mercer, and sister-in-law, Patricia Bright of Ponte Verde Beach FL, and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty Lou was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia McChesney, and her brother, Richard Bright.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. An additional calling hour will be held from 10 — 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church, Chestnut Street, in Marienville. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Boyd Edmondson, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the North Forest Cemetery.
