The split with UPJ moved the Golden Eagles record to 3-12. Clarion lost game one 11-4 and won the second game 2-1 in a pitchers battle. Both games were ‘home’ games for the Golden Eagles.

The Golden Eagles won the second game of the double header 2-1 behind a three hitter pitched by Tyler Delval. Delval struck out six UPJ batters in the complete game.

The Golden Eagles took the lead in the bottom half of the first after Drew Pirritano led off the game with a walk. Pirritano would get to second with a steal leading to a Tyler Falk RBI single.

UPJ knotted the game up 1-1 with a run in their sixth inning, however Clarion scored it right back in the bottom half of the inning on an unearned run scored by Falk on a Mike Lockhart RBI sacrifice fly out.

Delval picked up the win for Clarion while his counterpart Brantley Rice received a loss despite pitching well. Rice pitched five- plus innings giving up two runs. Ryan Bills finished the sixth inning for UPJ.

Kane McCall pitched four- plus innings for the Golden Eagles and took the loss. He gave up ten hits and seven runs, all earned. UPJ started hot scoring one in the first , four in the second, and one in the third.

Clarion was able to get on the board with four runs on five hits in the sixth inning of game one. Joe Holmberg doubled, advancing to third on an error. Pirritano brought home Holmberg with a double. Jordan Mesoraco singled moving Pirritano to third before Derek Danver homered to left.

Those were the only runs Clarion would score in game one bringing it to a 9-4 game before UPJ knocked in two more in the seventh.

Nate Pope picked up his first victory of the season for UPJ pitching six innings and striking out eight Clarion batters. Logan Fluke pitched the final inning for UPJ striking out two. McCall was given the loss.

The Golden Eagles take the field again Monday afternoon traveling back to Johnstown for their designated PSAC road games against the Mountain Cats. Clarion is 2-1 this year against UPJ after defeating UPJ 6-3 early in the season in a non-conference game played in North Carolina. Clarion is scheduled to play two home games against Seton Hill Saturday April 4 pending on the field conditions and weather.
