JENKS TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — According to Marienville-based State Police, an Identity Theft occurred at a residence in Marienville, Jenks Township, Forest County.

Police say an unknown perpetrator(s) used a 58-year-old Marienville woman’s Facebook profile and issued friend requests with the victim’s current friends.

The perpetrator(s) did not attach a photograph to the profile, according to police.

A few of the victim’s friends began to chat with the unknown perpetrator(s). Once they began a conversation, the perpetrator(s) told the friends that she was able to claim $150,000.00 through USDA Funding Application and Facebook. The perpetrator(s) then provided a phone number to contact the customer care line, police say.

The victim’s friends realized this was a scam and contacted the victim and advised her that somebody was using her account or hacked her account, according to police.

No other information was provided.
