Geraldine A. Xander

OI1627724874_m0Geraldine A. Xander, 93, of 105 West Sixth St. Oil City, PA., died at 2:35 A.M. Monday March 30, 2015 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City after a period of declining health.

Born March 22, 1922 in Oil City, PA., she was the daughter of the late John & Mary Brown Rogers.

Gerry was married on May 15, 1946 in St. Joseph Church in Oil City to Roy E. Xander and he preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2008.

Mrs. Xander had worked as a secretary at Venango Christian High School.

She was a member of St. Stephen’s Church.

Gerry enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casinos, and doing word searches , but most enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved African Violets.

She is survived by five children Royce Ann Xander of Oil City, Debi Miller & her husband Dave of West Hickory, Kevin Xander of Oil City, Tom Xander of Oil City, and Dennis Xander of Oil City; 8 grandchildren Marci Dent of Oil City, Larry Dent Jr. & his wife Debbie of Gibsonia, Mark Miller of Salem, OH, Erika McFarlane of Vancouver, BC, Drew Xander of Oil City, Kelly French of New York City, Brandon Xander of Oil City, and Bryanna Xander of Oil City; four great grandchildren Teernie Dent, Alex Miller, Claudia Dent and Hayden Dent; and two great -great grandchildren Hunter & Ella Lawson; one sister Mary Jones of Barefoot Bay, FL; and by two brothers Harold “Red” Rogers of Henry’s Bend and James Rogers on Monroe, NC.

She was preceded in death by two brothers John & George Rogers.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon Thursday in St. Stephen’s Church with Fr. Matthew Ruyechan, Pastor, Presiding. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Oakwood Heights or to Venango Catholic High School.
