merl stroup photoMerl Adam Stroup of 10612 Dempseytown Rd. Titusville, passed away Tuesday afternoon March 31, 2015 after a short illness.

Merl was born on August 1, 1928 at Pineville, a son of the late Adam and Geraldine Kerr Stroup.  He was married to Margaret “Peggy” Hays on July 21, 1950 at Pleasantville.

Merl had attended the Enterprise and Titusville schools.  He was formerly employed at Fisher and Young Lumber for 24 years and was retired from Quaker State in 1987.

He is survived by his wife of Titusville; two sons, Jerry Stroup and wife Linda of Titusville and Jeff Stroup and wife Mia of Ocala, FL; four grandchildren, Jenny Tucker, Jamie Stroup, Tia Lancaster, and Shera Rhoden; six great grandchildren, Caitlin, Lilly, Allison, Ricky, and Aiden Tucker, and Hunter Lancaster; a sister, Ruth Whitescarver and husband Dave of Wexford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Alan Stroup; and three sisters, Frances Brooks, Doris Erickson and Shirley Galmish.

Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service there on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Dr. Barry E. Cressman officiating.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery.

The family asks that memorials be made to any chapter of the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
