Member_145289[1]Ronald E. Fulton, age 87, of Shippenville, passed away early Sunday morning, April 5, 2015, at his home following a brief illness.

Born September 30, 1927 in Elk Township, Clarion County, he was a son of the late Edward and Vera McDowell Fulton and the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was a graduate of the Shippenville High School and a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a MP, stationed at Vint Hill Farms in Warrenton, Virginia.

Ron married the former Emma Grace Black on May 19, 1948 and together they owned and operated the Ronald E. Fulton Lumber and Pallet Company. Emma preceded him in death on September 5, 1994.

He was also a farmer and worked as a heavy equipment operator for various coal companies. Upon retiring in 1996, he resumed farming and continued until his death.

Ron was a member of the Edenburg Masonic Lodge #550 of Knox and the Coudersport Consistory. He was also a member and past president of the Fryburg Beagle Club.

He enjoyed bowling with the Oldies but Goodies at Mt. Joy Lanes.

Survivors include his two children: Max E. Fulton and wife, Lynn, of Shippenville and Lois Fulton Smith of Venus; three grandchildren: Jessica Walters and husband, Brett, of Oil City; Kayla Fulton of Virginia and Cory Smith of Knox.

Ron is also survived by his beloved companion, Ginger Rex of Shippenville and his faithful dog, Annie.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister: John Fulton, Judd Fulton and Eleanor Beary.

Ron was also preceded in death by a special brother-in-law, Leland “Sam” Black, who lived with the Fulton family while in high school.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-7:45 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Reverend Ken Tack, interim pastor of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, officiating.

Interment will take place at the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.
