OI100063301_alcomiske001Alfred E. Comiske Jr., 79 , passed away late Tuesday evening April 7, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family ,after a period of declining health.

Born in Oil City, PA on June 18, 1935 son of the late Alfred E. Comiske Sr. and Mary Messina Comiske

He attended Oil City Senior High School.

Mr. Comiske served in the US Army from Oct. 8, 1953 thru Oct. 5, 1956 receiving the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.

He was employed by the US Postal Service as an Expeditor for 31 yrs. And then after retirement he worked for the Oil City Area School District in the Cafeteria Dept. for many years.

Al enjoyed sports and was an avid baseball player himself, playing for the Wolfs Head Legion Team, for ReArm League and in the Hayrake League and played softball for the Post Office and for Leagues in Oil City and Franklin.

He truly enjoyed watching his grandkids play ball and was a devote Steelers and Pirates fan.

Spending time with his family was his enjoyment in life.

Mr. Comiske was married in Ripley, NY in 1963 to the former Helen J. Heuston and she preceded him in death on June 3, 2012.

He is survived by the following children – Dave and Cyndi Comiske of Seneca, Joe and Wendy Comiske of Oil City, Martha Stover of Sharon, Bob Mellon of Oil City and a grandson Chris Wishnok whom he helped raise. The following grandchildren also survive : David, Tyler, Zach, Cody, Joey, Kiara, Kaitlyn, Joel, Heather along with 3 GGC and 1 Great, GreatGrandchildren.

Two sisters, Sandy Kurtich of Oil City, Charlotte Rybak and her husband Joe of Midland ,TX. along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded by a daughter Pam Wishnok, and by two sisters Mary Scime and Virginia Pearson and an infant brother William.

Private visitation and services will take place at the convenience of the family.

Committal with Full Military Honors provided by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard will take place at Grove Hill Cemetery.
