Belko Takes Second at Kutztown Multi Event for Clarion U. Track & Field Team

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — With a strong two-day effort, Clarion University junior Kristen Belko placed second at the Mondshein Multi event at Kutztown Thursday and Friday.

Belko scored 4,271 points and was second only to Seton Hill’s Nicole Malara (4,497 points).

Sitting in third place at the end of the first day of competition, Thursday, Belko moved up a spot with strong performances in the long jump, javelin and 800-meter run Friday.

She scored 612 points in the long jump with a leap of 5.19 meters, which was the fourth best among the 13 competitors. She then scored 569 points in the 800 finishing in a time of 2:40.33 and 429 points in the javelin with a toss of 27.50 meters.

Belko put herself in a position to have a strong second day with a good performance Thursday in the 100-meter hurdles, the high jump, the shot put and the 200-meter dash.

In the hurdles, she scored 779 points finishing in a time of 15.48, which was the second-fastest time in the field. She then scored 759 points in high jump clearing the bar at 1.62 meters, which was tied for the second-best jump of the day. She went on to add 488 points in the shot put (9.36 meters) and 635 points in the 200 (27.95).
