Thumbnail (1)Edith L. Rust, 89, of Franklin, passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 11th, at The Caring Place in Franklin.

Born March 6, 1926 in Mercer, Edith was the daughter of the late Harley J. and Catherine N. Johnson Rust, Sr. She graduated from Polk High School in 1945. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed embroidery, reading and music. She was a special person who was always willing to help others.

Edith is survived by her sisters, Margaret Soboleski and her husband, Joseph, of Front Royal, Virginia, and Norma Keverline of Greenville; and her sister-in-law, Evelyn Rust, of Franklin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Barker; and her 4 brothers, Stanley Wayne Rust, Kenneth Eugene Rust, Gerald Fredrick Rust, and Harley “Jug” Rust, Jr.

Family and friends of Edith will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Wednesday, April 15th from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. following visitation, with Rev. Johnny Pennington, pastor of Congress Hill Church of God, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
