OI350735580_jackhickman001Jack Gilbert Hickman, 87, of 33 Smithman St. Oil City, PA. , died April 12, 2015 at his home.

Born June 21, 1927 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late Emerson Davis & Sara Bickel Hickman.

He was adopted at a young age by David T. Hickman.

Jack was a 1945 graduate of Oil City High School.

He had served as a Merchant Marine.

Jack had worked as a dispatcher at Oilwell Supply , retiring after 38 years of service.

He was married in Maryland on August 7, 1950 to the former Lucy Mae Hansen and she preceded him in death on Nov. 30, 2003.

Jack was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.

He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Pulaski Club.

He enjoyed his camp at Mays Mills and tinkered with junk.

Survivors include; two daughters, Darlene Hickman and her special friend Donald Bell, of Oil City, Linda Shawgo and her husband Fred, of Franklin; three grandchildren, Terri May, of Oil City, Staci Shawgo and her son Grayson Beck, of Rocky Grove, Steven Shawgo, of Moyock, NC and his children Sammy, Joey and Kari.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Clea Overdorf.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 7-9 P.M. Wednesday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday in the funeral home with Rev. Donald Rudge, Presiding.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
