Joan M. Donaldson Herbstritt, 84, of 131 Englewood Ave. Oil City, PA. , died at 9:20 P.M. Monday April 13, 2015 at her home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Born April 29, 1930 in Van, PA., she was the daughter of the late Willis Hess & Gladys Lutman Hess.

Joan was a graduate of Cranberry High School.

Mrs. Herbstritt had worked fro South Penn Oil and later in the purchasing department of the Oil City Hospital.

She was married to Wayne Donaldson and he preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1966.

She later married Kenneth Herbstritt on Feb. 19, 1977 and he survives.

Joan was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and was an active member of various church committees and former Deacon. She was also a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, the YWCA
Gallivanters, and the Red Hat Scarlett Ladies.

Joan is also survived by four children.

She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Wayne, Benjamin, Neil, Andrew, Tyler, Matthew and Isabella and several great grandchildren.

3 step children, Denny & Doug Herbstritt and Diane McLaughlin all of Erie.

She is also survived by two brothers, Craig Hess of Polk, Glenn Hess & his wife Mary of Bradford

She was preceded in death by a brother Orlo Hess & his wife Rasma.

Friends will be received on Friday April 17 in the First Presbyterian Church from 10:00 A.M. -11:00 A.M., funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Ronee Christy, Pastor, Presiding.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Garden.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Deacons or to the Salvation Army Auxiliary.
