William E. Adams

adamsWilliam E. Adams, 74, of New Bethlehem, died late Monday evening, April 13, 2015, at Excela Westmoreland Regional Hospital in Greensburg.

Born on July 25, 1940, in Oak Ridge, he was the son of Alvie Grant and Yvonne (White) Adams.

He worked for Pullman Standard and served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Army.

He was a member of the Seger-Baun Post 582 American Legion of Rossiter, the Rossiter Veterans Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Punxsutawney and New Bethlehem.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and NASCAR.

He is survived by a son, Rodney “Pete” Adams and wife Michelle of Mayport (Ringgold); two daughters, Kim Moore and husband Dave of Brookville and Crystal Fleming and husband Ben of Summerville; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pam Hillberry (David), Paulette Boggs and Annette Bradley (Donnie), all of Fairmont, West Virginia; and three brothers, Ron Adams (Diane) of New Bethlehem, Ron Cumpston (Debbie) of Morgantown, West Virginia and Tim Cumpston (Lisa) of Fairmont, West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jody Miller; three sisters, Paula Schleicher, Patty Cumpston and Carol Orr; two brothers, Alvin Clyde Adams and Dave Cumpston; and a special friend, Rose Campbell.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, with lay speaker Barry Mitchell officiating.

Immediately following the service, the American Legion will honor their fallen comrade.

Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County.
