BARNETT TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Marienville-based State Police say around 10:46 p.m. on April 15, a one-car accident occurred on State Route 899, 427 feet north of Maple Creek Road, in Barnett Township, Forest County.

According to police, 58-year-old Linda J. Brush, of Brookville, was traveling north on SR 899 when a large black bear entered the roadway from the east shoulder (right) and entered directly into the path of Brush’s 2002 Chevrolet Impala.

Brush was unable to avoid the collision, and her Impala struck and killed the bear.

Brush safely maneuvered her car to the side of the road and then summoned PSP Marienville from a nearby residence.

She was using a seat belt and was not injured.

McPherson Towing assisted at the scene.
