‘Come Together Clarion’ Slated for Saturday

Clarion, Pa. — The 5th Annual Come Together Clarion event will be held on April 25, 2015, from 11:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m., on 6th Avenue between Main Street and Wood Street, in Clarion.

Festivities the day of the event will include a 5K, collection drive, family/kid-friendly activities, inflatables, performances (music, dancing, etc.), as well as an awards ceremony to recognize those who have excelled in specific areas of service for Clarion County.

5K for 5 Causes

The 5K for 5 Causes Run-Walk will be held at 10:00 a.m. on April 25, 2015. Proceeds from the race benefit:

• Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarion, Forest, and Venango Counties
• Clarion County YMCA
• Clarion University Relay for Life
• National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Northwest Pennsylvania Chapter
• Northwest Pennsylvania Rural AIDS Alliance

To pre-register for the race, visit www.clarion.edu/cometogether. The cost for pre-registration is $10, and the deadline to pre-register is April 24, 2015 at 4 p.m.

Registration will also be available the day of the event for $15.00. On-site registration will run from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

The race will start at the intersection of 6th Avenue and Wood Street.

Collection DRIVE

The collection DRIVE will be held at the Farmers National Bank parking lot on 6th Avenue.

Donations can for the DRIVE can be dropped off between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on April 25.

Items that will be collected include food items, children’s clothes, children’s linens, eyeglasses, pet food and supplies, books, personal hygiene products, school and office supplies, kitchen and bathroom supplies, and kid’s craft items.

All donated items will directly benefit non-profit organizations throughout Clarion County.

Neighborhood Star Awards

Nominations are also being accepted for Neighborhood Star Awards. Nominations for individuals and organizations who have shown a commitment to the Clarion County community will be accepted online at www.clarion.edu/cometogether.

Awards will be given in nine categories including: Animal Rights and Welfare, Disaster Services, Economic Issues and Opportunity, Education and Child Welfare, Environment and Agriculture, Health and Wellness, Human Rights and Social Issues, Senior Care, and Veterans and Military Support.

The last day to submit nominations is April 22, 2015, at 5:00 p.m.

Come Together Clarion is organized by students involved with ABLE (Advisory Board for Leadership and Engagement) at Clarion University.

This year marks the 5th year of the event, with many more in the future. All activities at the event are free to the public, with the exception of the cost to run the 5K.
