Leatherwood Church Tractor Sunday Event Set for May 24th

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (EYT) — All of the excitement of Tractor Sunday is returning to Leatherwood Church on May 24, 2015.

Entering its 8th year in existence, Tractor Sunday has become a staple of our church and community.

With over 70 tractor entries and nearly 600 people in attendance last year, it can also be called an event that is quickly becoming something that the whole community looks forward to each year.

Tractor Sunday is held every year at Leatherwood Church in Porter Township, just 4 miles outside of New Bethlehem.

From its humble beginnings, Tractor Sunday has always been a way to try to get people to come out to church.

DLM_0120Tractor Sunday has seemingly grown every year since its outset and features many of the same activities that the first few years had. Tractors can begin to come in and register at 9:00 a.m., and the crowds begin to come to see them shortly after that for the tractors and the free coffee and donuts.

There are five different categories of tractors and farm equipment (Show, Working, Lawn, Misc., and Kids), and prizes are awarded for the top three entries in each category.

Also returning are the inflatable games and mechanical bull, concerts, and musical acts, door prize giveaways, and free lunch. And, of course, the centerpiece of the day is the outdoor church service.

Tractor Sunday truly is the convergence of farm and faith.

New to this year’s program is our first ever parade of tractors.

There will be a small parade on the road in front of the church to give tractor owners (and their kids and grandkids) a chance to show off their tractor as they parade in front of the church.

There will also be a mechanical bull and inflatable games which will begin earlier in the day.
