ELDRED TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — The PA State Police Fire Marshal and the Sigel Fire Department investigated the origin and cause of a fire that destroyed a heavy timber barn at 1240 Moore Bridge Road, in Eldred Township, Jefferson County.

Marienville-based State Police say the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature and was related to a heat lamp in use inside the barn.

According to police, 25 chickens, 11 guineas, and one peacock perished in the fire.

Two cows and a newly born calf were able to escape the barn and survived, police say.

There were no human injuries, according to police.

Damage is estimated at $100,000.00, police say.
