Mayfest 5K Fun Run/Walk to be Held in Memory of Paul Zacherl

FRYBURG, Pa. (EYT) – Registration is open for the 6th Annual Mayfest 5K Fun Run/Walk. This year’s race is being held in memory of North Clarion Junior-Senior High School math teacher Paul Zacherl who passed away on October 7, 2014.

The event, which kicks off at Saint Michael’s Church on State Route 208, is slated for Friday, May 22, at 7:00 p.m.

In addition to individual awards, a team award will be given to the top team consisting of up to 5 “family” members, i.e. work, military, friend, or church “family.”

The top 3 times of each team will be scored.

This race is on black-top terrain and runs through the rolling hills of Marble and Fryburg.

It is quoted as being “one of the toughest races, but one of the most fun.”

This year, local musician Mike Ames, will be on hand with his acoustic guitar to entertain guests.

For the safety of participants, a portion of State Route 208 will be closed during the race. Traffic will be detoured via Marble-Strobleton Road and Eisenman Hill Road.

A portion of the proceeds from the race will be donated to a scholarship fund in the name of Paul Zacherl. Details regarding the scholarship will be forthcoming.
