lindseyChester M Lindsey Jr., 65, of Franklin, passed away at 7:51 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28th at UPMC Northwest, following a short illness.

Born July 1, 1949 in Franklin, Chester was the son of the late Chester M. and Dorothy Carson Lindsey, Sr.

Chester was a Vietnam Navy Veteran, having served from July 23, 1968 until March 31, 1974. While in the Navy, he was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and a Meritorious Unit Commendation.

Chester retired from Polk Center in August of 2003, after working there for more than 27 years as a Resident Staff Aide.

He was a member of the Fox Street Church of God, the V.F.W. Post 1835, and the Disable American Veterans Tri County #67. Chester enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing and spending time at his camp in Linesville, PA.

He especially cherished spending time with his family.

He is survived by his 3 daughters, Kristi Vann of Bridge City, Texas, Marie Speicher and her husband, Ricky, of Lufkin, Texas, and Rachel Brassine and her husband, Brian, of Greenville, North Carolina.

Chester is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, D. J. Vann of Bridge City, TX, Ryan Speicher of Lufkin, TX, Maranda Thompson and her husband, Bryan, of Whiteman Air Force Base in MO, Gwyneth and Oliver Brassine of Greenville, NC; and his 2 great-grandchildren, Lyllian Speicher of Lufkin, TX, and Blakely Vann of Bridge City, TX.
He is additionally survived by his sister, Patty Thomas of Oil City, and his 2 nieces and his nephew.

A Memorial Service for Chester will be held at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Friday, May 1st at 4 p.m., with Rev. Dennis Jones, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the local V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
