Thomas Donald Hamilton, age 80, of New Bethlehem, passed away Monday afternoon, April 27, 2015 at the Clarion Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born September 25, 1934 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Charles Cole Hamilton and Bertha Mae Dahlman Hamilton.

Don was a graduate of Peabody High School, the University of Pittsburgh, where he received BA degree and continued his education, earning a Master’s Degree from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the United States Army.

Don was a retired Presbyterian minister and was a former member of the Kiskiminetas Presbytery.

He was a past member of the New Bethlehem Masonic Lodge #522 and the New Bethlehem Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, the former Sarah “Sadie” Anderson, who he married in Pittsburgh on August 20, 1960 and their two children: Thomas Donald Hamilton, Jr. of Pittsburgh and his step son, Jason Steinhart, of Columbus, Ohio and Becky Questell and her husband, Michael, of McMinnville, Tennessee.
Don is also survived by a niece and nephew, Khris Shafer and Donald Shafer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a brother and sister, Charles Hamilton and Betty Shafer.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2015 at the New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 403 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the church with the Reverend Cyndy Dixon, pastor of the New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment will take place in the Tidal Cemetery in Armstrong County.
