John F. Bowser

bowserJohn F. Bowser, 56, of Knox, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born July 6, 1958, in Butler, John was the son of the late John and Nellie Bowser.

John was a graduate of Knoch High School.

After high school he joined the Army where he served for 23 years.

While in the Army he served in Iraq during the Gulf War and worked as an engineer.

After retiring from the Army John worked for EMS of Mars.

On February 27, 1978 John married Patricia Fahringer who survives.

John enjoyed nature and spending time with his grandchildren.

Along with his wife, John is survived by his three children Amanda (Matthew) Eckstein of Prospect, Destiny (Jim) Fair of Knox, and Jesica (Eric) Lepley of Parker, and four grandchildren Zoe and Ian Heitzenrater of Prospect, Nick Bowser of Knox, and Klarrissa Bowser of Parker. Also surviving are five brothers and sisters Tom (Kathy) Bowser of Parker, Margie (Jim) Dawson of Sligo, Nellie (Chuck) Stiffy of Sligo, Eugene Bowser of Washington, and Rick Bowser of Lyndora.

John was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Barbara Wilbert and Debbie Kirkwood, a brother William Kellerman and two nephews Mike McMillen and Daniel Fahringer.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the McEntire­Weaver Funeral Home, at 504 East Penn Avenue in Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor John Peterson officiating.

American Legion Post 720 will perform full military honors.

Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Sligo.

In lieu flowers the family ask donations be made to the McEntire-­Weaver Funeral Home, PO Box 727, Knox to help defray funeral expenses.
