image001Kathleen M. Reinard, age 89, formerly of Sigel, PA, went to her heavenly home on Friday May 1, 2015 where she will join her husband, parents and siblings and many good friends who loved the Lord for the grand reunion she anticipated.

Katie was born August 15, 1925 in Heath Township, Jefferson County, the youngest child of seven to Oren Butterfield McKendree and Alma Rose Hidinger. Katie attended early education at the one room school above Heath Station and then graduated from Brookville High School in 1943.

After the end of WWII she wed the boy next door whom she had met at the age of seven. She married her best friend and soul mate James L Reinard on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 27, 1947. Jim preceded her in death on Nov 25, 2014. They were married 67 years. She is survived by three children; Candice K. (Maxx) Hunter, James R. (Vicki) Reinard and Thomas E. (Barb) Reinard. Along with them are 6 grandchildren and soon to be 14 great-grandchildren. Katie was preceded in death by her parents and 6 siblings, Gladys McKendree, David McKendree (infant), Evelyn Painter, Twila McKendree, Merton McKendree and Clair McKendree.

Katie was first a wonderful mother, grandmother and homemaker. She loved the Lord and guided her children accordingly. In the early 1970’s her husband became a Methodist minister and she in turn became a pastor’s wife. She always commented on how greatly she enjoyed being in that role of support to his ministry and her involvement with the many church family members she came to know and love and with the church activities she assisted. Although her vision was failing her, she continued to read her Bible and devotionals daily. After retirement Katie and Jim spent their fall and winter in Virginia, and then finally in Florida for many years, making new close friends wherever they settled. They returned to Pennsylvania to stay in the spring of 2014. She is dearly remembered by her family and friends.

Friends and family will be received at McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville, PA, on Monday May 4, 2-4, 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the same location, on Tuesday May 5, 2015, beginning at 11:00am with the Rev. Henry Scoff officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Brookville Church of God Building Fund or the Salvation Army.
