OI1756427399_HartleAnnaBellecropped (1)Anna Belle Hartle, 96, of Shippenville passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Clarview Nursing and Rehab after a brief illness.

Born on November 19,1918 in Ten Mile Bottom, PA she was the daughter of Homer D. and Mildred Parrett Fry.

She attended Cranberry High School and graduated in 1936.

On September 21, 1939 she was married at St. Michael Church by Msgr. Theoblad to John F. Hartle who preceded her in death in 1974.

Anna Belle was a member of St. Michael Church and Rosary Society in Fryburg, the Women of the Moose, Shippenville Civic Club, Shippenville-Elk Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the 500 Club.

She worked as the bookkeeper for her husbands company and later as the secretary for Shippenville Borough. When she was in her 70’s she went back to school and became a certified tax preparer. Also when she was in her 80’s she proctored classes at Clarion University. Anna Belle loved to travel with her friend Helen Hoover and she had visited nearly every state. The favorite part of her day was having coffee with all of her friends. As she often told people she met “Stop on over and visit, the coffee pot is always on”. Anna Belle took pride in her family and loved big family holiday dinners, vacations at Conneaut Lake where she could be found sitting on the front porch watching everyone, and camping. She enjoyed living in a small town where everyone knew their neighbors and took care of each other.

Anna Belle is survived by her children: a son John F. Hartle Jr. and his wife Jean of Elk City, Doris Servette and her husband John of Murrysville, PA, Rose Schreckengost and her husband Robert of Shippenville, Gary Hartle and his wife Joan of Oil City, Janice Black and her husband Mark of Knox and a son-in-law James Hartle. Grandchildren surviving include: Melissa Hartle of Columbus OH; Kathleen Smerkar and husband Robert of Knox; Marcia Rugen of Sterling VA; Valerie Moore and husband Steve of Erie; Barbara Bauer of Shippenville; Lucas Schreckengost and wife Veronica of Shippenville; Gary Hartle Jr. and wife Mary Ann; Jonathan Hartle of Pittsburgh; Olivia Hartle of New York City; Andrew Hartle of Erie; Emily Black of Tionesta; and Amanda Black of Knox. Also surviving are 18 great-grandchildren; a sister Dorothy Heath of Oil City; a sister-in-law Clara Clinger of Brookville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; a daughter Mary Kay Hartle CRNP; a grandson Keith Hartle; and a brother Elwood Fry-Warren

Friends will be received at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Vigil service will be celebrated at 6:45pm in the funeral home.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in St. Michael Church with Rev. D.G. Davis III Pastor of St. Michael Church presiding.

Interment will be at the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattenville following the service.
