Roy J. Shay, 86, of Knox passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Clarion Hospital on Saturday, May 2, 2015.

Born April 11, 1929, in Parker Roy was the son of Roy W. and Pauline (Jones) Shay.

Roy graduated high school in Parker and went on to get a degree in accounting from the Duff-Iron City College.

After college he went to work for the Glass Container Corp. in Knox which he retired from in 1986 as production manager.

On March 5, 1955, Roy married Kathryn Russell who survives.

Roy was involved in the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports and sitting on his porch swing with Kate.

Along with his wife Roy is survived by four children, Brian Shay of Knox, Linda (Jeffrey) Eisenman of Marble, Michael (Laurie) Shay of Cleona, PA and James Shay of Knox; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother Gary (Louise) Shay of Augusta, GA; and two special sisters in law Dorothy Lindamen and Rosalind Metz.

Roy was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Sibble, on April 9, 2015; his parents; and two sisters Betty McCloskey and Opal Garris.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, and from noon to 1 pm Wednesday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home Inc, 504 East Penn Ave, Knox. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Randy Evans, chaplain of the Clarion-Forest VNA officiating.

Interment will follow at the Perryville Cemetery in Parker.
