Clarion’s Tyler Falk Earns Capital One Academic All-District 2 Baseball Honors

CLARION, Pa. — Clarion sophomore first baseman Tyler Falk (Fombell, Pa./Riverside) was named yesterday as a Capital One First Team Academic All-District 2 Baseball selection and will advance to the national ballot to be considered for the NCAA Division II Academic All-America Baseball Team for 2015.

The Academic All-America program is run and voted on by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). The Division II program has eight regional teams. District 2 includes teams from the PSAC, CIAA and Mountain East Conferences with teams representing the states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina,

“This is an outstanding honor for Tyler,” said Clarion baseball coach Mike Brown. “He has been an outstanding player and leader on our baseball team, but he represents the true meaning of the term student-athlete and we are proud to have him in blue and gold.”

Falk, who is carrying a 4.0 GPA and majoring in Finance at Clarion, had an outstanding season for the Golden Eagles as their first baseman in 2015.

This year Falk batted .378 (45 of 119), led the team with 31 rbi’s, 25 runs scored and 18 walks, tied the school’s single season home run record with 7 hr’s, and had a fielding percentage of .993. He also put together a 15-game hitting streak, which tied for the longest streak at Clarion since 2000.

In 2014 Tyler was the PSAC “Freshman of the Year” and a second team All PSAC-West selection hitting .363 (41 for 113), with 5 doubles, 3 triples, 18 rbi’s and 16 runs scored.

In two seasons Tyler has a career average of .371 (86 of 232) with 7 hr’s, 3 triples, 11 doubles, 49 rbi’s and 41 runs scored.

Tyler is the son of Doug and Joan Falk of Fombell. He is a 2013 graduate of Riverside High School. The District 2 Team is included below.
