John G. Menteer, 54, of Strattanville, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 7, 2015, in the Brookville Hospital Emergency Room.

Born on February 18, 1961 in Brookville; he was the son of Gifford B. “Butch” Menteer and Mary Ann Aljoe Hawk.

John was married on September 30, 1988 to the former Cynthia A. Love, and she survives.

He worked at the Sealy Mattress Company in Strattanville for 25 years until their factory closed.  He was currently employed by Beverage Air in Brookville.

John enjoyed hunting and playing music.

In addition to his wife, Cindy; he is survived by his father, Gifford B. “Butch” Menteer and his wife, Barbara, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; his mother, Mary Ann Hawk and her husband, Jack, of Clarion; two children, Nichole L. Menteer and her fiancé, Michael Rawson, of Clarion, and Ryan J. Menteer and his fiancé, Courtney Aharrah, of Brookville.

Also surviving are a brother, William T. Menteer and his wife, Janet, of Warren, OH; a sister, Tracy A. Hetrick and her husband, Jack, of St. Petersburg; three half-brothers, Brandy Menteer, Jason Menteer, and Michael Menteer, all of Ohio; a mother-in-law, Ann Love of Strattanville; two nieces, Amber Menteer of Brookville and Hanna Hetrick of State College; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015, in the funeral home with Pastor Harold O. “Jake” Jacobson, pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion, officiating.

Interment will be held in the Strattanville Cemetery.
