KNOX TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A 24-year-old man was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital following a motorcycle crash last night on Route 66 in the Lucinda area.

Clarion-based State Police say the accident happened around 10:30 p.m. on Route 66 near its intersection with Easy Drive.

Police say the accident occurred when a southbound 2003 Cadillac Deville operated by a 17-year-old Lucinda female turned left in front of a 2012 Yamaha Striker while attempting to enter Easy Drive.

According to police, 24-year-old Bryan M. Burkhardt, 24, of Johnstown, was unable stop and his motorcycle subsequently slid onto its right side.

The bike then collided with the right front of the Cadillac, causing Burkhardt to be thrown from the motorcycle onto the windshield of the car.

Burkhardt was flown to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh for treatment of major injuries.

There is no word on his current condition.

The teen driver of the Cadillac and a 16-year-old male passenger escaped injury in the accident.

The teen driver was charged with a traffic violation.
