BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Brookville Borough Police say a fatal motor vehicle accident occurred around 10:46 p.m. on May 9, on Barnett Street between Jefferson Street and Main Street, in Brookville, Jefferson County.

Brookville Police were flagged down by a male who was calling 911 advising that there was a vehicle that struck a utility pole near Main Street.

Upon arriving on the scene, police observed 29-year-old Brenton Joseph Ruhlman, of Brookville (formerly of Seneca), lying on the roadway near Cherry Avenue. Ruhlman was cared for until EMS personnel arrived on the scene, police say.

Ruhlman was transported to Brookville Hospital to meet with Stat Medevac; however, he was pronounced dead at the Brookville Hospital by Doctor Ali at 12:12 a.m., according to police.

It is believed that Ruhlman somehow fell out of his 1999 Jeep Wrangler, and the vehicle may have run over him, police say.

The Jeep had no doors on it, and Ruhlman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to police.

Brookville Police were assisted at the scene by Brookville Volunteer Fire Company; Jefferson County EMS; McPherson Towing; and Stat Medevac.
