Parnell J. Trayer

Parnell J. Trayer, age 90, passed away on Sunday May 10, 2015, at his home on Trayer Rd. in Summerville Pa.

He was born on February 16, 1925, in Sigel, PA to the late Einsel S. and Lillie (Silvis) Trayer.

He was a decorated Veteran of the Army, of which included two purple hearts and a bronze star. He fought in World War II European Theater Infantry; he ended as a Staff SGT., with Co. K 143rd Inf. 36th Div.

He was married to the late Elaine Hope (Moore) Trayer on April 9, 1944, in Temple TX; she preceded him in death on May 26, 2010.

He was a retired mechanic of Penn DOT. He also worked for the Hanly Brick Plant in Summerville PA and the Trayer Garage in Stanton.

He was a member of VFW Post 204 of Brookville, Disabled American Veterans, and Roseville Independent Chapel.

He is survived by 2 sons; David T. (Janet) Trayer of Erie PA; and Jim (Roxann) Trayer of Brookville PA; and 3 daughters; Linda (Timothy) Smith of Satsuma FL; Cindy (George) Reynolds of Punxsutawney PA; and Deborah (Roger) Long of Brookville PA. He is also survived by his brother Clyde Trayer of North Freedom PA; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by 1 brother; Wilbur Trayer, and 3 sisters; Margaret Ewings, Marie Beers, and Betty Trayer.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday May 13, 2015, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Brookville PA, 15825.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday May 14, 2015, at Roseville Independent Chapel, 3381 Rt. 322 Brookville PA, beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Fillhart officiating.

Interment to take place at Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville PA.
