Parker Man Pleads Guilty to Homicide by Vehicle While DUI

baileyCLARION, Pa. (EYT) — Last week a Parker man pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence in connection to a September 7, 2014, UTV rollover crash that killed a St. Petersburg man.

According to court documents, 22-year-old Kyle Alan Bailey, of Parker, pleaded guilty to a Felony 2 count of Homicide by Vehicle while DUI stemming from an accident that killed 28-year-old Jeremy Slaughenhoup, of St. Petersburg.

Court documents state Bailey also pleaded guilty to DUI: Highest Rate of Alcohol (BAC .16+), a misdemeanor.

Court documents also indicate that 12 other counts — which included Involuntary Manslaughter, Misdemeanor 1, and Murder Of The Third Degree, Felony 1 — were withdrawn at a lower court.

Around 2:42 a.m., on Sunday, September 7, 2014, Bailey was traveling north on Keefer Road when he failed to negotiate a right-hand turn and drove off the left side of the roadway. His Polaris RZR Side-by-Side impacted a tree stump, causing the vehicle to roll over an unknown number of times before coming to a rest.

Slaugenhoup, a passenger in the UTV, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle.

Prior to PSP Clarion arrival, both Bailey and Slaugenhoup were transported from the scene by EMS.

According to a criminal complaint, during the crash investigation, Trooper Norris found approximately 15 — 8 oz. Bud Light Raz-Ber-Ritas cans and 4 — 12 oz. Bud Light beer cans scattered among the crash scene. There was also an empty cooler next to the vehicle and a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the inside of the vehicle.

Slaugenhaup died on September 10, 2014, from injuries suffered in the collision.

Sentencing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on June 17 in front of Judge James Arner.
