6094221_Snyder_Roger_81[1]Roger A. Snyder, 81, formerly of Freeport, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, in Clarion Hospital, Clarion County.

Mr. Snyder was born Jan. 29, 1934, in Freeport, to the late Frank and Lydia (Elder) Snyder.

Roger was a 1952 graduate of Freeport High School.

He spent the last 10 years of his working life as a manager for Boron Oil in Clarion. Prior to that, he held employment for Burford Electric in Sarver and also worked as a custom home builder.

He enjoyed numerous outdoor activities: hunting, fishing, gardening, boating, working on cars and bird watching. He was also a Steelers and Pirates fan.

Roger is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy L. (Burford) Snyder; four daughters, Holly A. (Glenn) Walker, of Corsica, Pa., Margaret Cynthia “Cindy” Snyder, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Lydia E. (John) McMurray, of Little River, S.C., and Traci J. Snyder, of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Tara Barnett, Kris Geer, Jennifer Rebeck, Jason and Evan Crawford, Jessye Rollan and Justin D. Danko; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Ronald (Nancy) Snyder, of Sarver, and Ray Snyder, of Port Orange, Fla.; and one sister, Margaret Elsenrath, of Maryland.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers and sisters.

Family and friends are invited from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, to the Dennis J. Daugherty Funeral Home, 324 Fourth St., Freeport (724-295-3100), where a service will immediately follow at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
