OIL CITY, Pa. — Route 666 in Forest County is open to traffic following the replacement of a flood-damaged bridge in Howe Township.

Route 666 has been closed to through traffic from Mayburg Road in Kingsley Township to Minister Road in Howe Township since December 9, 2014 for replacement of the bridge over Porcupine Run, located near the intersection with Minister Road.

The structure was one of two bridges and a 60-inch pipe that were damaged in flooding that occurred on June 13, 2014. Replacement work on the pipe and the other bridge, located over Bobbs Creek in Kingsley Township, was completed in November 2014.

The 17-foot-long, flood-damaged bridge over Porcupine Run was built in 1908 and was classified as structurally deficient. On average, about 130 vehicles a day used the bridge. Through an emergency fund allocation, Clearwater Construction Inc. of Mercer Pa. was awarded a contract for $1,234,000 for replacement of the pipe and two bridges.
