55638a96ce451[1]Clayton C. Mellon, age 81, of Tionesta, PA, died unexpectantly on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Erie, PA.

He was born August 23, 1933 in Tidioute, PA, son of the late Emery C. and Jenny (Grela) Mellon.

On June 27, 1953 at the Presbyterian Church in Tionesta he married Betty L. (Wise) Mellon who died November 17, 1992.

He retired July, 1993 from National Forge Co. in Irvine, PA where he worked as a Group Leader in the Melt Shop. He attended St. Anthony’s R.C. Church in Tionesta. Clayton served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army and was a member of the VFW Post in Tidioute and the American Legion Post in Greensburg, PA. He enjoyed hunting, farming, and had a collection of Farmall Tractors. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his great-grandson Quinton.

Surviving are two sons, Gregory C. Mellon and his wife Doris of Tionesta. Robert L. Mellon of Leeper, PA and his fiancé Rita Michel of Pittsburgh, PA. Three grandchildren, Joshua E. Mellon and his wife Nicole of Tionesta; Katie I. Mellon of Tionesta; Monica L. Martin and her husband Ken of Clarion, PA. Four great-grandchildren Mackenzie and Quinton Mellon, Landon and Emma Martin. Several nieces and nephews.

Also surviving is Clayton’s fiancé, Sherry C. Check of Pittsfield, PA. Her daughter, Leslie J. Ordiway and her husband Dean of Youngsville, PA. Two grandsons, Kyle A. Ordiway and his wife Melissa of Edmunston, Canada; Cole D. Ordiway and his fiancé Michaela Meyers, also of Youngsville.

In addition to his parents and wife, Clayton was preceded in death by a brother, John Mellon, and a sister, Pearl B. Kolich.

Friends will be received at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta on Tuesday from 2-7. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2015, 11 am, at the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Tionesta with Pastor Samuel Mabugu officiating. Burial at the Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Tionesta. Clayton C.
