SCRUBGRASS TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say around 1:00 a.m. on May 23, a hit and run accident occurred on Highlands Road, 410 feet east of Bell Road, in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County.

According to police, 18-year-old Ryan D. Hauser, of Wexford, was traveling east on Highlands Road, approaching a 90 degree left curve.

His 2003 Nissan Frontier was traveling too fast and failed to negotiate the left curve and continued straight, impacting a dumpster that was along the edge of the road. The vehicle then continued straight and struck a tree and came to a final rest beside the tree, police say.

Hauser fled the scene without reporting the crash, according to police.

Hauser and his passenger, 18-year-old Matthew J. Puntureri, of Wexford, were not injured in the crash.

The vehicle was towed by Tom Hovis Towing.

Hauser was charged with a traffic violation.
