Eleanor “June” McQuiston

dcb86541beea209c[1]Eleanor “June” McQuiston, 95, of The Caring Place, passed away May 27, 2015.

June was born May 23, 1920 in Barkeyville, she was the daughter of Thomas and Dora Cokain.

June graduated high school from both Wesley High School and Harrisville High School. After high school June worked at the Blakley Store in Barkeyville. She married Orville McQuiston on April 18, 1945, he passed away January 3, 1986. They had 4 children. June was member of the Irwin Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Missionary Society.

She hosted different missionaries into her home. She enjoyed quilting with the ladies from the church, having made each of her grandchildren a quilt. June was a regular at the local curb markets selling produce she raised on her farm and baked goods as well.

Spending time with her family brought joy to June, especially her grand children and great grandchildren who loving called her Granny Q.

Surviving are her children Valeria M. Coyer and her husband Walter J of Grove City, Lesley Jane Amon and her husband Virgil W. of Stoneboro and George T. McQuiston and his wife Lynn L. of Harrisville. 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren also survive.

June is proceeded in death by her parents, husband a daughter Martha R. Mong who passed away February 6, 2003 and her brother N. Richard Cokain and a infant grandson Emmanuel Mong. Family will receive friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street, Thursday May 28, 2015 from 5-8pm. Funeral services will take place Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeremy Coyer, officiating from the Christ Covenant Fellowship in Seneca at 3:00 pm.

Interment will take place at Old Log Cemetery. Family suggest memorial donations be made to Seneca Hills Bible and Retreat Center, 276 Damascus Road, Polk PA 16342 or Irwin Presbyterian Church 3653 Georgetown Rd, Stonoboro PA 16153.
