John E. “Pete” Flockerzi

Member_146966[1]John E. “Pete” Flockerzi, 82, of Oil City, died at his home of natural causes on Wednesday morning, May 27, 2015.

He was born in Oil City on February 24, 1933 to the late John W. and Mary I. (Hogue) Flockerzi.

He attended Cranberry High School. He served in the National Guard with A Company 112th Infantry Division in 1955.

Pete was a former member of the Cranberry Area Lions Club as well as the Oil City Moose Lodge. He enjoyed having coffee and visiting with his friends at the Log Cabin Restaurant in Seneca.

Mr. Flockerzi was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oil City.

He enjoyed traveling, camping, and going to casinos. He was a member of the “Good Sam Camping Club” and a C.B. Radio club. Pete enjoyed spending time with his family, and attending his great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

Mr. Flockerzi began working at Worthington Steel, and later became employed as the chief maintenance engineer for the Franklin Hospital for twenty-five years; and then served as the plant engineer at the Clarion Psychiatric Center.

He was married in Oil City on July 19, 1952 to the former Sally “Jean” Keenan, and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara Hessmer and her husband Jack of Versailles, Kentucky; and Susan Greenlee and her husband Jack of Oil City; four grandchildren: Michael Schneider and his wife Diane of Oil City and their children Keelie and Karli; Karissa Shoup and her husband Nicholas of Oil City and their children, Makenzi and Austin; Jack Hessmer, III and his wife Clair of Chittenango, New York and their son Jack Arthur Hessmer, IV; and Jack D. Greenlee, Jr. and his wife Tiffany of Cooperstown and their children Elizabeth, David, Nicole, and J.D.

Also surviving is his niece, Rose Adams and her husband Craig of Cranberry; and his special friends, Ed and Georgine Cropp of Oil City and Gary and Sylvia Traister of Templeton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and her husband, Margaret “Maggie” and Sylvester “Sy” Reisinger.

Friends will be received Thursday (May 28) from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday (May 29) from 10-11 a.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday (May 29) at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Hastings, pastor of Seneca United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Venus Cemetery.
