Service Announced For Marcella Romanko

12c8a168eaa0123eA memorial service3 has been announced for Marcella V. (Bradley) Romanko, 78, of St. Paul’s Continuing Care Community, formerly of Kennerdell, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 11, 2015 at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville after a lengthy illness.

The service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church in Emlenton. An hour of visitation will be held prior to the service.

Born June 2, 1936 in Natrona Heights she was the daughter of John E. Bradley and Justine O. (Daly) Bradley. She was married to the late William Romanko on January 14, 1961.

Marcella worked at various local businesses throughout the years, but her greatest joy came from being a mother and homemaker. Her hobbies included bird watching, making crafts, quilting and collecting glass baskets. She was an avid gardener who took great pride in making delicious meals for her family from the garden’s bounty. She was known for her rhubarb desserts and apple pies. She spent time lovingly tending her flower gardens and fruit orchards. Along with her husband, they raised an impressive greenscape which also included nut trees and daylilies. As beekeepers for over 50 years, they harvested delicious honey and watched as the bees pollinated the fruits of their labor.

Marcella was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Emlenton where she participated in the Ladies Sodality. She also was active in the Scrubgrass Homemakers in Lisbon.

Survived by three children, William K. Romanko and his wife Georgia of Andover OH, Christine R. Wright and her husband Mark of Jamestown NC, and Richard E. Romanko and his wife Janice of Pittsburgh. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Megan Huffman, Cassie Blascak, Adam Romanko, Andrew and Will Wright and Anastasia Romanko; 2 sisters, Barb LeDonne and her husband Don of Pittsburgh and Janice Rickard and her husband Rich of Pittsburgh; a sister-in-law Mary Jane Ellison of Largo FL, and a brother- in-law Michael Romanko of Clintonville; several nieces and nephews.

Proceeded in death by her husband in 2012, parents, brother Joe Bradley, and brother-in-law John Romanko and his wife, Betty.

The family will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church at a later date when the flowers are in bloom. Interment will take place at St. Michael Cemetery.

The family suggest memorial contributions be sent to St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 811 Chestnut Street, Emlenton, PA 16373 in memory of Marcella and William Romanko.

The Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for the Romanko Family.
