Three-Vehicle Pile Up on I-80 Construction Zone in Monroe Township

MONROE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say a three-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 80 East, in Monroe Township, Clarion County.

According to police, 51-year-old Bruce A. Stoddard, of Mechanicsville, Pa.; 63-year-old Leon M. Stauffer, of Richfield, Pa.; and 22-year-old Oleg Drotsiuk, of Warren, Mi., were involved in the collision.

Police say this collision occurred around 6:12 p.m. on May 28, on I-80 eastbound within an active construction zone. This is a two-lane highway with the right lane closed for construction.

All three vehicles were traveling eastbound, and Drotsiuk, operating a 2007 Volvo commercial vehicle, stopped for traffic, according to police.

Stauffer, operating a 2014 Volvo commercial vehicle, stopped behind Drotsiuk, police say.

Stoddard, operating a 2007 Freightliner commercial vehicle, failed to stopped and rear-ended Stauffer’s Volvo, according to police.

This impact forced Stauffer’s Volvo into Drotsiuk’s Volvo, police say.

No injuries were reported; all three drivers were using seat belts.

Stoddard was charged with a traffic violation.
