Member_147354Helene A. DeArment, 87, of Oil City, took the hand of an angel and went on to Heaven Sunday afternoon, June 7, 2015 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City.

She was born August 13, 1927 in Oil City to the late Ralph and Margaret (Mills) Myers.

Mrs. DeArment was of the protestant faith.

Helene enjoyed taking bus trips, especially to the casinos, attending family gatherings, singing, and playing Bingo. She was a sports fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, and also enjoyed watching wrestling.

In her earlier years she worked as a sales clerk for Woolworth’s and K-Mart, before becoming a dedicated homemaker.

She was married on December 30, 1956 to Lloyd “Barney” DeArment, and he preceded her in death on June 22, 2008.

Surviving are seven children: Constance Hart of Florida, Dixie Knight, Lloyd George DeArment, II, Pamela Carbaugh, Roxie DeArment, Bradley DeArment, and Traci DeArment, all of Oil City; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Madeline Warren and Charlotte Barnett, both of Mississippi.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Snyder; a daughter, Cynthia Horton; a granddaughter, Charmaine Hart; her brother, Ralph Myers; and her sister, Kathleen McCahan.

A memorial service to celebrate Helene’s life will be held Thursday (June 11th) at 1 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. The Rev. Jayne French, friend of the family, will officiate.
